Brian was born in Oberlin, Ohio and was raised by a single mother. He was an only child and excelled both academically and athletically at an early age. He had no specific aspirations when it came to filmmaking until his early 30s when he wrote and co-produced a his first feature length movie called Hope and Play.
Education: He excelled throughout grade school where he was chosen to participate in gifted classes and was one of only a hand full of students to be on the honor or merit rolls for every grading period in middle school. In high school Brian lacked academic aspirations, but was able to maintain a B average. He also competed on the physics Olympics team and becoming a member of the National Honor Society. He graduated from Oberlin Senior High School in 1991. Following high school, Brian attended Lorain County Community College (Ohio), Morehead State University (Kentucky), and Oberlin College (Ohio).
Sports: Brian wasn't exactly sure what soccer was, but felt motivated to join the local team at an early age because of his attraction to the female players. After quickly grasping the sport he became an instrumental member of the "Oberlin Untouchables" which went on to have a record of 20 - 0 and won the county championship. Brian played soccer for 11 years including high school where he was named as a co-captain and earned 3 varsity letters for the 3 years he played. During the same seasons as soccer, Brian competed as a place kicker for the Varsity football team and after an exceptional high school career, Brian received All-Conference, All-County and All-State honors. On a whim he went out for tennis later his senior year and earned a varsity letter at second doubles. In all, Brian received 4 junior varsity letters and 8 varsity letters in 4 sports. After high school, he played 2 years for a nationally ranked semi-pro football team out of Vermilion, Ohio. He is now a big fan of the game of tennis and plays 2 to 3 times a week.
Photography: Photography was what initially lead Brian to believe he could be a part of the movie industry. He was a yearbook photographer in high school and later turned photography into a profession. As a part-time professional photographer, he had an eye for aesthetically pleasing shots and eventually teamed up with Daniel Roberts as the cinematographer, writer and co-producer for his first movie. Over the years he has photographed everything from Hell's Angels to equestrian sports and started doing sports photographs for Oberlin College as well as TFP work for aspiring models in 1999.
Firearms: Brian and his wife are certified firearms instructors and teach the NRA's Basic Pistol Class as a couple. He has long had a fascination with firearms as his maternal grandfather owned a turkey shoot. Brian spent nearly every Sunday of his childhood working at the turkey shoot and browsing through magazine after magazine of firearms related materials. He appreciated the physics, mechanics, power and workmanship that entailed the production and use of firearms and is working on several film projects that deal with firearms.
Art: Never having an affinity for traditional artist methods and after nearly a decade of trial and error, in 2008 Brian became the world's first known artist to apply acrylic paint to canvas using firearms and live ammunition. In a process that he has yet to completely reveal, Brian has created various works ranging from as small as 30 x 40 inches up to 90 x 210 inches in size that contain an incredible amount of texture and even microscopic detail.
Places lived: Although he was born and now resides in Oberlin, Ohio, Brian has lived in Valdosta, Georgia; Morehead, Kentucky; Avon, OH; Bay Village, OH; Rochester, OH; Amherst, New York (Buffalo); Lakeside, Californoa (San Diego); Versailles, KY; and Lexington, KY.
Jobs: Brian usually worked two or more jobs at the same time prior to becoming an artist/filmmaker/photographer and certified firearms instructor and in the past has been an: Electronics Associate with OfficeMax; Departmental Assistant with Oberlin College; Executive Officer (Mayor) of Rochester, OH; Photo Editor with The Oberlin Review; Security Guard and Licensed Private Investigator; Plant Pest Control Officer in the Gypsy Moth Trap-tender Division of The Ohio Department of Agriculture; Assistant Manager for an apartment complex; Sales Manager for the now defunct Indian Motorcycle San Diego; and a Door-guy/Bartender/Photographer/Bouncer for a strip club which he has a book titled "Turning On the Ugly Lights" due out in 2010.- Albert Johnson was born on 31 May 1872 in Oberlin, Ohio, USA.
